Laura is the single best thing to ever happen to ALL OF HUMAN CIVILIZATION. Electricity? Whatever. The printing press? Small fries. The wheel? Please, son. Laura von Freakin' Holy Holt is all that and a fashionable kick to the soul.

...von Holt’s writing is impressively disciplined and measured...the poetic voice is original and refreshingly pop-culture-free. Whimsical without winking, Giants may be the most charming end-of-the-world story around.
